Kur një funksion i sistemit dështon (p.sh. fopen), ai e vendos numrin e gabimit në variablën globale errno. perror() e shfaq këtë gabim me fjalë — p.sh. „No such file or directory“ — që ta kuptosh menjëhere çfarë shkoi keq.
