Te canary release, versioni i ri i dërgohet fillimisht vetëm një pjese të vogël të përdoruesve (p.sh. 5%). Nëse gjithçka shkon mirë, rritet gradualisht deri në 100%; nëse jo, problemi prek vetëm pak njerëz.
